About Us
Why we started Contractory and the problems we set out to solve.
There was no central place where homeowners and contractors could communicate clearly, track progress, or exchange payments safely.
So we built one.
The Problem
An industry under pressure
A Labor Supply Crisis
Experienced contractors are retiring faster than new talent can replace them, taking decades of mentorship and expertise with them. Enrollment in the trades continues to decline, leaving a critical gap in skilled labor.
Rising Demand, Constrained Supply
Aging homes require increasingly complex repairs and maintenance. The math is simple: demand is rising while the supply of skilled labor struggles to keep up.
Buried in Admin Work
Contractors report spending excessive time on scheduling, coordination, documentation, progress updates, change requests, and payment conversations — instead of the craft they love.
Eroding Trust
Communication breakdowns, unclear scope definitions, payment disputes, and timeline slips create a trust deficit between homeowners and contractors. These issues stem from bad processes — not bad people.
Our Mission
Reduce the complexity. Rebuild the confidence.
Throughout development, we partnered closely with real contractors, homeowners, and property managers. They tested every feature — from milestone-based payments to in-app messaging and project tracking — and their real-world feedback shaped the app from the ground up.
Contractory exists because people deserve a better, safer, and more transparent way to get work done — and we're committed to delivering exactly that.
